Why We are Here - Our History

Andy’s Challenge was formed in 2017 by three alumni, Chryl Hoz, John Olson and Jeff Gunn, of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training (“TNT”) program to honor Andy Allen, a young man who touched many hearts as he fought against leukemia twice - AND BEAT IT!  Andy’s chemo protocol didn’t exist when he battled leukemia the first time. LEUKEMIA RESEARCH SAVED HIS LIFE!

Luetta Allen remembers, "When Andy relapsed with leukemia, this group’s efforts were mission critical for us.  Team AndyStrong and Andy’s Challenge made something really really big and really really important happen for us.  The path we were sent on as a family was super scary and we went mostly alone because others COULD NOT go where we had to go...and others never should.  But you cared and you cheered.  And we heard.  You have a big piece of my heart."

Andy's Challenge has taken it a step further and wants to honor all children impacted by pediatric cancers by raising money for cancer research and supporting the cancer charities that these kids love.  In 2019, our Andy's Ambassadors have elected to support the following:

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The Periwinkle Foundation
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Arts In Medicine
Candlelighters Houston
